Booking

Do I need an account to book a coffee chat?+
No. Guests book with just a name and email. You'll get a confirmation email with the meeting details and a calendar attachment.
What if the slot I want is full?+
For group (1:many) slots, you can join the waitlist. If someone cancels, the next person on the waitlist is automatically promoted and emailed.
Can I cancel or reschedule?+
Yes, use the cancellation link in your confirmation email. Rescheduling isn't built in yet — cancel and book a new slot. Hosts may set a cancellation cutoff (for example, 2 hours before the meeting).
Will the host see my email?+
Yes. Hosts see the name and email of anyone who books a slot so they can recognize you at the venue and contact you if plans change.
What does the Turnstile check do?+
It's a lightweight bot check on the booking form from Cloudflare. It doesn't track you across the web.

Hosting

How do I get started as a host?+
Sign up, fill in your name, bio, and username, then add one or two public venues and a few availability windows. The whole setup is under 3 minutes.
What's the difference between 1:1 and 1:many?+
1:1 slots book a single guest. 1:many slots let multiple guests join the same time block up to a capacity you choose — useful for open office hours or community coffee.
Can I block specific dates?+
Yes. In the Availability page, add a blackout date and no bookings will land on it.
Can I set a buffer between meetings?+
Yes, per availability window. Set 0 for back-to-back, or up to 15 minutes to give yourself breathing room.
Does JavaMe sync with my calendar?+
Not yet. Calendar sync (Google / Outlook) is on the near-term roadmap. In the meantime you'll get .ics attachments on every confirmation and can add them manually.

Safety

Where do meetings happen?+
Only at public venues you choose from Google Places — cafes, libraries, parks, coworking lobbies, etc. JavaMe is in-person and public-venue by design.
What is Share my meeting?+
After you book, you can one-tap email the meeting details (host, venue, date, time) to a friend or family member so someone knows where you'll be.
What if something goes wrong?+
Hosts can block or report a guest from their dashboard or directly from the host-notification email. Blocked guests can no longer book that host. Reports go to the JavaMe team.
Is JavaMe only for adults?+
Yes. You must be 18 or older to use JavaMe.

Account

How do I sign in?+
Email and password, Google, or Apple. You can also request a magic sign-in link from the login page if you forget your password.
How do I change my profile photo or username?+
Go to Settings from your dashboard. Photos are resized and cached per upload, so changes propagate immediately.
How much does JavaMe cost?+
It's free. No paid tiers are planned for the MVP.
How do I delete my account?+
Email hello@javame.com from the address on your account and we’ll remove it.
